Notre Dame Post-Game Quotes
Michigan State 2, Notre Dame 1
Midwest NCAA Regional, Van Andel Arena Grand Rapids, Mich.

Head Coach Jeff Jackson
Did age play a factor?
State is a little more experienced then we are in these types of environments. Last night had some impact on tonight but I think it worked against both teams. We were sharp in some ways but not sharp in others. Our defensive intensity was good but our offensive intensity wasnt quite what it needed to be and I think a lot of that had to do with the extra price you pay around the net. We actually came alive in the third period but something was missing and Im sure some of that it had a little to do with fatigue and credit to Michigan State their defense blocked some people out. To me, this game involved the wrong two things first of all was face-offs which I knew was going to be a concern coming in. Puck possessions of the face-offs, we are a pretty good face-off team, but one team we had trouble with this season was Michigan State. It was a huge factor in both goals. One led to a penalty and one led to a goal. Both goals were direct results of face-offs, one on the power play and one five on five.

Same Michigan State Team...
They were very similar to when we played them at Munn.

Im glad the CCHA is there. I hope there is more then one team there. I think our conference is getting stronger. We bring in kids like the Abdlekader line, the Lergs, Condra, Deeth, and Thang, those kids that the NHL let us have for a couple of years, our conference will start to establishing some national respect like it should.

Michigan State

Opening statement:
Great win obviously. I would like to commend Notre Dame on a tremendous season; they are a great hockey team. Believes in what they are doing, they just kept coming at us and at us. The BU team last night was tough, this team was very tough. As weve done all year, were a resilient hockey team. We have a tendency to get ahead and give up leads; you never know whats going to happen. It came right down to the wire. So obviously were very thrilled to be going to St. Louis.

Statement from Lawrence, Lerg, Kennedy, Comley:

Lawrence Last year we learned how to win, we lost some key guys, but I think that through the stretches last year, we had some tough games and coming back from my freshman and sophomore year was really up and down. After the New Year, coach said we found our resiliency and we found ways to win. We didnt win pretty.

We were loose today. It was a good loose. The guys were ready, the guys were focused. The guys were enjoying the moment

Lerg First off, I said all along that they deserve all the recognition (Notre Dame), theyve been the number one team all year. Again, when Im on my game, I can be as good as anyone in the country. If I play my game and keep things simple, I know if I make all the saves Im supposed to plus two or three big ones, well get the win. I felt confident.

Kennedy This team knew what had to be done and we got it done. We knew if we came out and took care of business, we had a pretty good chance of moving on.
