Bahntge -- a Westlake, Ohio native -- led the nation in scoring this past week with seven points as he helped guide the Lakers to a sweep of Atlantic Hockey conference foe Sacred Heart. In the 7-2 victory on Friday night, Bahntge had five points on two goals, one of which was the game-winner, and three assists. In the Saturday night series finale, the senior Bahntge again scored the game-winning goal in addition to adding an assist in a 4-2 win. For the weekend, he had seven points on three goals and four assists, in addition to a plus-6 rating. Bahntge leads the team in scoring with 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists.
A freshman goaltender, Bitzer posted identical 4-0 victories against Alabama Huntsville during the weekend for the first two shutouts of his career. In the Friday night contest he made 18 saves while keeping the Chargers off the scoreboard for only the fourth time all year, stopping a three-game unbeaten streak by UAH. On Saturday, Bitzer -- a Moorhead, Minnesota native -- registered 24 saves in keeping Alabama Huntsville off the scoreboard. Bitzer has a 2.18 goals against average on the season, a .913 save percentage and a current shutout streak of 179 minutes and 23 seconds.
The senior forward Hyman helped lead the Wolverines to a weekend sweep of Minnesota in Big Ten action. In the Friday night contest, he had either a goal or an assist on all four of the goals scored by Michigan in the 4-3 overtime win. He scored the team’s first goal and then assisted on the three others, including the game-winner in overtime. In Saturday night's 7-5 victory, Hyman had a goal and an assist in helping the Wolverines complete the sweep while notching coach Red Berenson's 800th-career win. He tallied six points on two goals, four assists and 12 shots on goals for the weekend while compiling a plus-4 rating. He leads the team in scoring with 26 points on 11 goals and 15 assists.
