RIT's Erik Brown leads Three Stars with nine-point week

The stars truly came out in NCAA Hockey last week, so much so, we had to select four players for our three stars of the week.

1.) Erik Brown, RIT

The junior forward from Keene, Ontario was simply on fire last week. It started on a rescheduled game at Merychurst on Monday night when he had a hat trick in a 6-5 OT victory. On Saturday, he kept up the fireworks with four goals in a 5-0 win at Sacred Heart. On Sunday, he added a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to the Pioneers. He finished the week with nine points on eight goals and an assist, the most points or goals by any player in a single week this season. He improved his season totals to 36 points on 25 goals and 11 assists.

2.) Adam Gaudette, Northeastern

The Braintree, Massachusetts native earned Most Outstanding Player honors after leading Northeastern to the Beanpot title for the first time since 1988. The junior forward had a hat trick in the championship game as the Huskies knocked off Boston University 5-2. Gaudette followed that up by scoring a goal in Northeastern’s 4-3 OT victory over Vermont on Friday night. He capped the weekend off with two goals and an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 win in Burlington. For the week, he totaled seven points on six goals and an assist to go along with 14 shots on goal and a +2 rating. He now has 51 points on 27 goals and 24 assists on the season.

T-3) Adam Fox, Harvard

The sophomore defenseman was outstanding on the offensive end as he led the Crimson to three wins last week. In the Beanpot consolation game on Monday he had three assists in a 5-4 overtime victory over Boston College. On Friday, the Jericho, New York native had a hat trick and an assist in a 5-0 shutout of St. Lawrence. On Saturday, he added an assist in a 5-2 win versus Clarkson. For the week, he posted eight points on three goals and five assists, while also recording eight shots on goal and a +2 rating. His season totals increased to 20 points on three goals and 17 assists.

T-3) Hayden Lavigne, Michigan

The Brampton, Ontario native backstopped the Wolverines to a sweep of the top-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. On Friday, he made 34 saves in a 4-2 victory in South Bend. He followed that up with 35 saves in his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 win in Ann Arbor on Sunday. The sophomore netminder posted a 1.00 goals-against average and a .972 save percentage for the week. On the season, he improved his goals-against average to 2.61 and his save percentage to .912.
