NCAA.com | February 17, 2015 Three Stars Top Five Plays: Offense rules the week Share Third Star – Michael Bitzer, Bemidji State The freshman led the Beavers to a WCHA sweep of Northern Michigan by allowing only one goal in the weekend series. Bitzer tallied 25 saves in a 1-0 shutout on Friday night, marking the first time the Wildcats had been held scoreless in their previous 15 games. In Saturday night’s series finale, Bitzer made 36 saves while allowing only one goal in the 5-1 win. On the weekend, Bitzer had a 0.50 goals against average and a .984 save percentage. On the season, he has a 1.86 goals against average with four shutouts and a .926 save percentage. Second Star – Kevin Roy, Northeastern Roy led the Huskies to a dominant home-and-away sweep of Hockey East foe Connecticut this weekend. In Friday’s 9-0 shutout at home, Roy scored four goals on seven shots. The next night at UConn, the junior forward had three assists in a 6-1 victory. On the weekend, Roy scored seven points on four goals and three assists while registering 13 shots on goal and a plus-7 rating. He is the team’s leading scorer on the season with 37 points on 16 goals and 21 assists. During Northeastern’s current eight-game unbeaten streak Roy has 16 points on eight goals and eight assists. First Star - Mackenzie MacEachern, Michigan State The sophomore forward led the Spartans to a sweep of Big Ten conference leading Penn State with a pair of game-winning goals. In the Friday night series opener, MacEachern had a goal and an assist on six shots in the 3-0 victory. Then in the Saturday evening finale, MacEachern scored all three Michigan State goals in the 3-2 victory as they have now won five of their last six games. On the weekend, MacEachern scored five points on four goals and an assist to go along with nine shots on goal and a plus-3 rating. For the season, he is second on the team in scoring with 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists.
