Players of the week: Minnesota's Rem Pitlick tops Three Stars

Action on the college hockey scene is heating up as the season begins to near the finishing stages. Plenty to play for across all of the nation's races as teams jockey for final positioning ahead of the postseason. With that in mind, NCAA.com takes a look back at the Three Stars from this week's action. Here are three players pacing the play for their respective teams.

Rem Pitlick, Minnesota 

The freshman forward from Plymouth, Minnesota, led the Golden Gophers to a sweep of Penn State in Hockey Valley in Big Ten action. In Friday’s 6-3 victory, he had a hat trick in addition to an assist on the game-winning goal. On Saturday, he scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Minnesota’s 4-3 victory. For the weekend, he finished with six points on four goals and two assists in addition to five shots on goal and a +3 rating. He has compiled 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists on the season.

Ryan Ruck, Northeastern

The Coto de Caza, California, native led the Huskies to a home-and-home sweep of UConn in Hockey East competition. On Friday at UConn, the sophomore netminder registered his first shutout of the season with 20 saves in a 3-0 win. He followed that up with 24 more saves in a 4-1 victory against the Huskies in Saturday’s home game. For the season he has a 2.94 goals against average and an .897 save percentage.

Tyler Moy, Harvard

The senior forward helped the Crimson extend its win streak to eight games with a sweep of ECAC Hockey foes over the weekend. The San Diego native had two goals in Friday’s 4-2 victory at Yale. He followed that up with three points on two goals and an assist in Saturday’s 6-0 shut out of Brown. For the weekend he finished with five points on four goals and an assist while totaling six shots on goal and a +2 rating. He leads Harvard in scoring on the season with 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists.
