College hockey action is in full throttle with handfuls of early-season upsets and spectacular individual performances.
NCAA.com highlights the latter in the first edition of this season's "Three Stars" of the week. Here is the trio of standout performers from this past week:
1.) Mark Auk, Michigan Tech
The senior defenseman Auk was named the MVP of the Icebreaker Tournament after leading Michigan Tech to the team title. The St. Clair Shores, Michigan native scored three points on a goal and two assists in the Huskies’ 6-3 semifinal win against Union College. In the championship game, a 4-3 upset of No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, he scored another goal. 2.) Jake Kielly, Clarkson
Kielly, the sophomore netminder from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, led the Golden Knights to a pair of victories over the weekend. On Friday, he led the way in Clarkson’s 2-1 upset of No. 10 Penn State with 38 saves. On Saturday, he registered his fourth career shutout with 29 saves in a 3-0 victory against Michigan.
