College hockey players of the week: Tanner Laczynski's game-winner led Ohio State to a perfect weekend
The Stars of the Week feature some of the top offensive talent in the nation as they were all instrumental in leading their teams to weekend sweeps.
NCAA.com highlights some of the top individual performances in the sport in the latest edition of this season's "Three Stars" of the week. Here is the trio of standouts from this past week:
1.) Tanner Laczynski, Ohio State
The Shorewood, Illinois native led Ohio State to a sweep of Robert Morris in non-conference action this past weekend. On Friday, he had three points on a goal and two assists in a 5-3 victory in Columbus. On Saturday, the sophomore forward followed that up with two goals, including the game-winner with less than three minutes to go in a 3-1 victory in Pittsburgh. For the weekend, he finished with five points on three goals and two assists in addition to 10 shots on goal and a +5 rating.
2.) Zeb Knutson, Minnesota State
The senior forward had a big weekend for the Mavericks as Minnesota State was able to sweep WCHA rival Michigan Tech. in Friday’s 3-1 victory, Knutson scored the game-winning goal and added an assist. On Saturday, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota native, registered three points on a goal and two assists in the 5-3 win. For the weekend, Knutson totaled five points on two goals and three assists, while also taking four shots on goal and finishing with a +3 rating.
3.) Troy Terry, Denver
The junior forward from Denver, Colorado showed a flare for the dramatic as he was instrumental in leading the Pioneers to a sweep in Boston. Terry scored with 16 seconds remaining to lead No. 1 ranked Denver to a 4-3 victory at Boston University. On Saturday he tallied three assists, including one on the game-winner in a 6-1 win at Boston College. In the two games, he totaled five points on a goal and four assists, in addition to five shots on goal and a +2 rating.
