It was a close game played throughout as the Purple Knights kept the score within two goals for most of the contest. NYIT got on the board early with a goal from Triola just 49 seconds into the game. The Bears scored twice more and led 3-2 at the end of the first quarter. Miller opened the second stanza with an unassisted goal at the 12:47 mark. NYIT regained control with back-to-back goals from Brunet but Vanzo had the final say of the half to leave the Bears leading 6-5 at halftime.

NYIT pulled away by three goals, 8-5, in the beginning of the third quarter as Ross capitalized on a man-up opportunity and Miller tallied a hat trick. Murphy then gave the Bears its largest lead, 10-6, when he found the back of the net with two goals a minute apart.
