RINDGE, N.H. -- No. 9 Saint Michael's tied a 26-year-old school record with its eighth consecutive victory on Wednesday, downing Franklin Pierce 8-4 during Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. The Purple Knights improved to 9-2 overall while remaining one of two squads with a perfect league mark, standing 8-0. The Ravens fell to 4-7 and 3-6.

Saint Michael's last won eight in a row in 1987. Senior Marty Vanzo recorded three goals and two assists, moving into 10th in program history in career points (128) during his third season with the team to pass Mike Simonelli '96. Junior Evan Antolino added a hat trick, while classmate Tim McDonald dished off two assists. Junior Chris DeMairo made 14 saves and junior Cooper Quenneville was 4-for-6 on face-offs. Sophomore Luke Solms had a career-high eight ground balls.

Sophomore Erik Kelly scored twice for the Ravens and sophomore Don Denman made 18 stops. Junior Eric Vincens went 8-for-14 on face-offs.

After yielding a man-up goal 42 seconds into the game, the Purple Knights scored three times in a five-minute stretch during the first quarter, with Vanzo assisting senior Pete Donnally before scoring one himself at 6:55. Antolino made it 3-1 a minute later. The Raven scored another extra-man goal with five seconds left, but Vanzo countered at 12:24 of the second. The score stood 4-2 in favor of the Purple Knights at halftime.

Following a scoreless third quarter, Quenneville and Vanzo scored 34 seconds apart to make it 6-2 by the nine-minute mark of the fourth before Kelly scored at 8:30. Antolino scored at 7:49 and 4:50 to help Saint Michael's pull away.
