Froccaro, Kelly players of the week

Every week during the regular season, we’ll award an NCAA.com Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for Division I men’s lacrosse.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Froccaro | Villanova | Jr. | A/M | Sands Point, N.Y.

Jake Froccaro scored eight goals and added two assists in the Wildcats’ 19-9 upset of then-No. 12 Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Feb. 27. The performance broke Villanova’s single-game goals record, which had stood at seven since 1999.

Defensive Player of the Week
Stephen Kelly | North Carolina | Junior | M | Lutherville, Md.

Stephen Kelly won a season-high 17 of 25 faceoffs and collecting a game-high nine ground balls in North Carolina’s 15-11 at then-No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Sunday, Feb. 28. Kelly captured six of eight faceoffs in the fourth quarter as the Tar Heel s scored five unanswered goals to seal the victory.

Honorable mentions: Josh Byrne, Hofstra (offensive); B.J. Grill, Marquette (defensive); Shane Simpson, North Carolina (offensive); Greg Wozniak, Boston University (defensive).
