
PERRY, N.Y. - The preseason honors continue to pile up for the defending Division III national champions as the Salisbury University men's lacrosse team has been named the top-ranked team in the country by the USILA/Nike preseason coaches' poll, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced.

The Gulls are perched atop the poll with 280 points and all 14 first-place votes. Rounding out the top five is Tufts University (249 points), Rochester Institute of Technology (243 points), Ithaca College (235 points), and Gettysburg College (205 points).

Salisbury's 2017 slate features six of the teams in the top 20 and another five teams that received votes in the poll in (respectively based on votes) Roanoke College, Lynchburg College, Christopher Newport University, Frostburg State University, and Montclair State University.
The Sea Gulls' title defense starts on Saturday, February 4 with a 1 p.m., showdown against Methodist University at Sea Gull Stadium.
