As part of a team building exercise, High Point men’s lacrosse coach Jon Torpey took his team on the 2016 Tunnel to Towers 5k Run & Walk New York City. The event honors Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter who gave his life while saving others as he ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to join other first responders at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2001.
The run has a tie to the High Point program. Senior captain Mick Horrocks’ father, Michael Robert Horrocks, was first officer on United Flight 175, the second plane to hit the World Trade Center.
Here's the story of what family means to Mick Horrocks.
