SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Two top five teams collide on Friday when the No. 3 Syracuse women’s lacrosse team hosts No. 4 Virginia at 4 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Both teams enter the contest undefeated, as the Orange is 3-0 this season, while the Cavaliers are 2-0.


The game is part of a doubleheader with the Orange men’s lacrosse team, which also takes on the Cavaliers at 7 p.m. Tickets for Friday’s game are $5 for adults and $2 for youth ages 12 and under through halftime of the women’s game when the cost increases to the price for a men’s game ($10 for adults, $5 for youth 12 and under). Members of the ‘Cuse Kids Club receive free admission.

Syracuse and Virginia have met 10 times, with the Cavaliers holding a 7-3 advantage in the series. Last season, Virginia defeated the Orange, 13-8, in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers were one of only two teams to beat Syracuse last season.


The Orange is coming off a West Coast trip where it defeated No. 17 Stanford, 15-10, and California, 18-2. Senior Katie Rowan (Delmar, N.Y.) registered 12 points in the two games, giving her 300 in her career. She is the 21st player in NCAA history to reach the 300-point plateau. Rowan is the Division I active leader in points and goals scored (190).
