Catholic's Comeback Falls Short Against Salisbury In Second Round

SALISBURY, Md.-- After overcoming an early 2-4 deficit yesterday against Mary Washington, Catholic's come back today was stopped just short at the hands of Salisbury, 14-18.
Led offensively by Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) who finished the day with seven goals and two assists, the Cardinals fell to the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University, 14-18 and finished their season in the NCAA Div. III Regional Championship game.
Laura Haring (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai), Caroline Taltavull (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), and Mary Swarthout (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) each scored two goals, with Haring adding two assists as well. Kelly Ryan (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) added a goal on her only shot of the contest to close out the scoring for the Cards.
Salisbury was led by Robyn Bishop who finished the day with six goals, while Logan Bolderback added two goals and two assists for the hosts.
CUA fell into an early deficit, trailing the hosts 11-5 at the break. The Cardinals slowly chiped away at the lead going on a five to one run bringing them within two with only 11:18 remaining in the contest.
Down the stretch CUA managed only one more goal with 4:11 on the clock from Taltavull. That goal came after Salisbury extended its lead to four.
CUA was out shot in the contest 36-27, including a 22-12 margin in the first half. Salisbury also dominated the ground ball game grabbing 22 loose balls. CUA led the draw control category 19-15, but a 20-14 turnover margin and 35 fouls hindered the Cardinals.
CUA finishes the season with a 17-4 record and are back-to-back Landmark Conference Champions they have also made two straight NCAA Div. III Regional Championships.
