Mount Union wins sixth consecutive with double OT win vs. Wittenberg

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Katherine Doraty scored a goal in double overtime as Mount Union pulled off a dramatic 14-13 double overtime win against Wittenberg on Thursday night at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders win their sixth consecutive game and improve to 6-1 on the season while Wittenberg falls to 3-2 overall.

Doraty and Emily Sendker each scored three goals while Susie Kraus had two goals and two assists to lead Mount Union.

Casey McHenry had eight saves including a couple key ones late in overtime to get the win in goal for the Raiders.

Olivia Lash and Logan Warye each had four goals to lead Wittenberg.

The score 7-7 and shots 12-12 were even at halftime before Mount Union took a 12-9 lead with 10 minutes to play in regulation but the Tigers rallied with three goals to tie the game at 12-12 and send it to overtime.

Each team scored in the first six minute overtime period setting up the sudden death overtime.

Doraty scored the game winner 36 seconds into double overtime.

Bo Nickal is first for the Nittany Lions by producing 5.38 average team points per match, followed by Jason Nolf (5.23) and Vincenzo Joseph (4.95). Iowa 165-pounder Alex Marinelli is fourth with 4.74 points, while Cornell 141-pounder Yianni Diakomihalis is fifth with 4.67 points.
