Mount Union Athletics | May 7, 2014 Mount Union beats Keuka in first round game, Raiders head to No. 1 Cortland Share ALLIANCE, Ohio -- In just its second season as a varsity sport, Mount Union hosted and won an NCAA tournament game with a 16-5 victory against Keuka (N.Y.) in a first-round game Wednesday at Mount Union Stadium. The Purple Raiders now 16-2 overall advance to face No. 1 ranked SUNY Cortland Saturday in a second round game. Emily Sendker matched her season-high with six points (5G, 1A) and Katherine Doraty had five goals and an assist to lead a Mount Union squad that put up 16 goals on the nation's No. 1 scoring defense in Keuka. The Raiders defense got seven ground balls and three caused turnovers from Kolbie Haines while goal keeper Casey McHenry had 13 saves. Maggie Bonafede had three assists and Jennifer Burt had two goals for Keuka (16-3). Mount Union ran out to a 7-3 lead in the game's first 19 minutes with Sendker scoring three of her goals in that span. Keuka would score a goal at the 9:06 mark before the Raiders scored three straight goals to take their largest lead of the half, 10-4 with 1:40 left in the period. Keuka tallied another score just before halftime to make it 10-5 at the break. Mount Union shutout the Storm in the second half and put up six more goals for the 16-5 final.
