C-USA reaches TV broadcast deal

IRVING, Texas -- Conference USA has reached an agreement with Sinclair Broadcast Group and its new American Sports Network initiative to produce and distribute 100 league events each of the next two years.

The deal announced Thursday includes 30 C-USA football games this season. There will also be basketball, soccer and other sports televised.

Sinclair owns and operates, programs and provides sales service to 162 television stations in 78 markets. They reach almost 40 percent of U.S. television households, including the 10 states where the 14 member schools are located.

C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky says the "alliance provides new and differentiated exposure" that benefits the league. It also complements existing television partnerships with Fox Media Group, CBS Sports Network and ESPN.
