CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Washington College raced against Division I Villanova and Philadelphia, the eighth-ranked team in Division II, this morning on the Chester River. The Shorewomen's varsity eight defeated Philadelphia U. to highlight the morning for Washington.
The Shorewomen's varsity eight finished the course in 6:31, easily out-pacing the Rams, who finished in 6:46. In the second varsity eight, Villanova caught up to and passed the Shorewomen at the very end of the race, winning in 6:59.28 to Washington's time of 7:00.0. The varsity four, which was shortened to approximately 1500 meters due to choppy conditions saw Villanova's "A" boat take first in 6:02, Villanova "B" place second in 6:07, Philadelphia place third in 6:10, Washington take fourth in 6:32, and Villanova "C" place fifth in 6:53.
Senior Abby Thomas was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's first varsity eight. Junior Kelly Bird sat stroke, freshman Hannah Sive was in the seven seat, junior Mickey Fili sat in the six seat, senior Ellie Hilton was in the five seat, freshman Madeleine Morrissette sat in the four seat, freshman Diana Lucey was in the three seat, senior Val DiLisi was in the two seat, and junior Ashley Myles was the bow.
Sophomore Jaclyn Gibbons was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's second varsity eight. Sophomore Maggie Perry sat stroke, junior Krystal Brostek was in the seven seat, junior Taira Sullivan sat in the six seat, freshman Jackie Creitz was in the five seat, senior Emily Sahadeo sat in the four seat, freshman Megan Prokopius was in the three seat, freshman Annie Sniffen sat in the two seat, and sophomore Jennie Knapp was the bow.
