The Calvin men's soccer team has moved on to the national quarterfinals. The Knights will face the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in a national quarterfinal contest Saturday night at 7 p.m. (EST). Calvin advanced to the quarterfinals by winning a penalty kick shootout against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 9-8 late Friday night. Calvin's game against Whitewater concluded in a 1-1 double-overtime tie and later advanced into penalty kicks. Both teams connected on their first eight attempts but Calvin goalkeeper Ryan Bratt was able to make a save on the ninth Whitewater penalty and Calvin junior Miles Cologo followed with the game-winner. Bratt is now 4-0 in penalty kick shootouts in his Calvin career. Calvin (16-2-5) fell behind 1-0 on a Whitewater goal in the 17th minute of play but the Knights equalized in the 26th minute on a goal by junior Tyler Vegter who was able to head in a cross from sophomore Mike Sanderson.
