TAMPA, Fla. - The Rollins men's soccer team collected another conference victory and second straight regular-season conference crown by defeating Tampa 2-1, Saturday night.

Rollins claimed at least a share of the Sunshine State Conference regular-season crown with a victory and will await the result between Lynn and Barry to determine if the Tars will retain hosting rights for the tournament.

The Spartans struck first on the scoreboard with Kemal Malcolm, who was able to use his speed to get around the backline of the Tars and force a difficult play. Malcolm took a pass from Brian Fekete and guided it past Baker for the goal.

The Tars would crank up the pressure and continue to assert their playing style, but came away empty until the 43rd minute. Nick Sowers and Daniel Salazar made the Spartans pay for a weak clearance with Salazar intercepting the ball and quickly passing to Sowers. The junior midfielder did the rest, knocking a hard strike over the keepers head to draw the Tars even.

Rollins used the break to make adjustments to their game plan and did not disappoint coming out of halftime. The Tars controlled long stretches of the half and garnered multiple chances at taking the lead. Adam New and Sowers both had golden chances to put the Tars ahead. Sowers put a perfect header on frame that clipped the crossbar and rolled out of harm's way.

This season the Tars have used late game scoring and consistent play to carry them through the conference part of the season. Tonight was no different with New collecting the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute to put the Tars ahead.

The goal would be all the backline and Baker would need to seal the victory and allow the Tars to claim another crown.

Rollins will await the outcome of the remaining conference matches to see the final tournament seeding.
