ERIE, Pa. - West Virginia Conference Player of the Year Rob Vincent lifted the University of Charleston men's soccer team to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Final as he scored in the 99th minute to seal a 1-0 win over PSAC Champion Shippensburg, Friday morning.

Charleston (16-3-1) dominated possession for much of the contest as they held a 28-13 shot advantage, but just couldn't find the back of the net as seven shots were between the posts. Red Raiders (14-6-1)goalkeeper Clay Sale recorded seven saves in the contest to keep his team within striking distance and force an extra period as regulation expired with a 0-0 tie.

All-Conference forward Dion Peters was double-teamed for much of the contest as that seemed to be Shippensburg plan to hold the offensive prowess of UC at bay, yet Peters still managed five shots to lead all players on the day.

Going into the extra frame the Charleston offense had the momentum after attacking almost continuously for the final five minutes of regulation. The break for the Golden Eagles came when a Red Raider foul allowed Vincent to line up for a free kick from 25-yards out. Vincent made the most of the attempt by moving quickly after the referee allowed the ball into play. He nailed a hard shot just around the right side of the Shippensburg defensive wall that slipped under the diving grasp of Sale into the bottom right corner of the goal.

The win places Charleston in the regional final against the winner of the WV Wesleyan & Mercyhurst contest (2pm, Nov. 12). The final will be played at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 14 at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa. Live stats and video will be run by the University of Charleston at
