Senior midfielder Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and junior forward Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored goals that gave second-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a 2-0 lead, and the Bishops went on to defeat Catholic (D.C.) in a first-round game of the NCAA Division III tournament on Saturday in York, Pa.

Ohio Wesleyan advances to the second round to face Kenyon, a 1-0 winner over York (Pa.) in Saturday's opener, at 1 p.m. on Sunday at York. The winner of the Ohio Wesleyan-Kenyon game will advance to the sectional semifinals (final 16 teams) to be played on Nov. 19-20 or Nov. 20-21 on the campus of one of the competing institutions.

Tyler Wall put the Bishops on the scoreboard in the 34th minute. Senior back Eric Laipple (Westerville/South) played the ball to Wall, whose shot skipped under Cardinal keeper Quinn Daly to give the Bishops the lead.

Travis Wall made it 2-0 late in the half, fielding a pass from senior back Brian Greene (Beavercreek) and sending a shot from the top of the box into the lower left corner with :26 on the clock.

Trailing, 2-0, the Cardinals rallied in the waning moments of regulation time, with Kevin Duffy scoring on a shot from just inside the penalty area into the upper left corner with 1:19 left in regulation time.

Catholic earned a corner kick as time ran out, but the Cardinals did not get a shot at the tying goal.

Catholic outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 11-10. Sophomore Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) made 2 saves in the Bishop goal. Daly recorded 1 save for Catholic.
