David Freeland's hat trick spurred No. 2 Midwestern State to a 5-0 win over Chico State in the NCAA Division II national quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium.

The junior from Odessa buried the Mustangs first two goals of the contest before Chris Dwyer headed in a third to give the Mustangs a commanding 3-0 lead at the intermission.

Freeland put in his third goal in the 48th minute and VcMor Eligwe banged in his 11th tally of the season to put the game away for the Mustangs.

Senior goalkeeper Raul Herrera polished off his 21st career shutout.

Midwestern State advances to the NCAA II Final Four for the second time in school history and first time since 2007.

The Mustangs will face the winner of the Super Region No. 1 final between Clayton State and Rollins Thurs., Dec. 2 in Louisville, Ky.
