YORK, Pa. – Danny Thompson's goal in the 78th minute propeled No. 2 Messiah to a 2-1 come from behind victory against York (Pa.). The Falcons improve to 10-0-1 while the Spartans fell to 3-5-3.

The Spartans jumped on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Sophomore midfielder Justin Facer knocked a 35-yard free kick from the left side of the field, lofting the ball toward the goal. Facer's ball flew toward the Falcon net, over the outstretched hand of goalkeeper Jake Berry, and into the top right side of the goal.

Messiah tied the game 1-1 in the 23rd minute when Thompson posted the equalizer. After a flurry of shots in front of the Spartan net, including one that was saved off the line by Spartan defender Matt Yackel, Thompson put away the rebound for his seventh tally of the year.

In the second half, it was Thompson who provided the game-winner for the Falcons. Thompson collected the ball in the midfield and then outraced the Spartan defense. Thompson won the one-on-one opportunity against York goalkeeper Ethan Kavanagh to give the Falcons a 2-1 lead.
