Neumann advances to second round
Knights beat Sea Gulls 5-4 in penalty kicks to move on
SALISBURY, Md. – Neumann advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament after defeating Salisbury in penalty kicks 5-4 on Thursday. The two teams played to a 0-0 score after two overtimes.
The first set of penalty kicks would not decide the game, as each team made four out of five. Andy Attah was the sixth kicker for the Knights and he made his shot. The Sea Gulls final attempt floated to the left to end the game and allow the Knights to advance in the tournament.
Bob Mastrillo made five saves in net for the shutout. Dan Chrashewsky led the Knights with three shots on goal.
This is the second trip to the NCAA tournament for the Knights and the first time they've advanced to the second round.
