No. 7 Pacific Lutheran beats Pacific 2-1

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- A pair of goals in the final 18 minutes of play carried seventh-ranked Pacific Lutheran to a 2-1 comeback victory against Pacific on Sunday at Lincoln Park Stadium.

Pacific Lutheran continues its strongest season start in program history, improving its record to 7-0-1 overall and 2-0 in Northwest Conference play. Pacific falls to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in the NWC.

One day after Taylor Jackson's first PLU goal gave the Lutes a last-minute victory against George Fox, the junior defender tied the match at 1 with a 20-yard shot in the 73rd minute of play. Ian Farley had given Pacific the lead in the 57th minute when he knocked the ball in off a scramble in the box.

Eleven minutes later, Tyler Bennett scored the eventual game-winner on a breakaway shot to put PLU up 2-1. The Lutes finished the match with a 9-7 shot advantage and an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. Joe Rayburn finished with a pair of saves for PLU, while Michael Summers tallied five saves for the Boxers.
