MSOC Weekend Preview

Tenth-ranked DePauw stayed perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 2-0 win against Wooster Saturday afternoon. With the win DePauw improved to 11-0-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in the NCAC. The Tigers outshot Wooster 11-6 and held a 6-3 edge on corner kicks.

DePauw gained an early advantage after Wooster’s Matt Parmelee was sent off after receiving his second card of the game. The Tigers capitalized on their advantage when Andy Morrison drove home a goal with 23:26 on the clock. Morrison’s goal was his 30th career goal putting him in the top 10 in DePauw history. His goal also proved to be the game-winner.

In the second-half the sophomore Adrian Ables and freshman Julian Gonzalez provided DePauw with some insurance as Ables connected on a pass from Gonzalez in the 55th minute.

DePauw looks to improve on their undefeated record Saturday when they take on No. 1 Ohio Wesleyan.

Senior midfielder Mitch Grotti scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick early in the first overtime, tying the Rutgers-Camden career point record in the process, as the Scarlet Raptors edged Richard Stockton College 2-1 in a wild New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday night.

Rutgers-Camden, which is ranked No. 2 nationally in the NSCAA poll, improved to 12-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the NJAC, extending its two-year undefeated string to 25 games (21-0-4). The 25 consecutive games without a loss ties for 17th place on the all-time NCAA Division III list with Plattsburgh State, which accomplished the feat during the 1991-92 seasons.

The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday when they host Montclair State in a NJAC Homecoming Day game. The squad then is set to face Haverford on Wednesday.
