Lander avenges regular season loss

Men's Soccer, Division II, Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. -- Clement Dauchy fired in a shot from 10 yards out on Friday night to lead Lander to a 1-0 overtime victory against Flagler in a first-round NCAA tournament game at the Jeff May Complex.

The Bearcats advance to the second round of the tournament and will play Queens (N.C.) at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Jeff May Complex.

Lander improves to 11-5-1, while Flagler ends the season at 9-7-3. The victory avenges a loss earlier this season to Flagler when the Saints downed Lander 2-1 in St. Augustine, Fla., on Oct. 19. The win was Lander's eighth shutout of the year.

Dauchy's game winning goal, his team-leading 15th of the season, came from directly in front of the goal off an assist from Michael Johansson at 92:44.

Lander outshot the Saints 13-10 and led in corner kicks 9-5.

Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen had five saves, while Flagler's Camp Bissell grabbed four.
