
No. 14 Rockhurst upset No. 1-ranked Lindenwood 1-0 behind a first-half goal from Paolo Scoppola Sunday at Rockhurst's Bourke Field to earn a ticket to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer national semifinals.
Third-seeded Rockhurst, 17-3-3, will meet Southern New Hampshire in the NCAA semifinals on Dec. 5 in Evans, Ga. Top-seeded Lindenwood ends the season with an 18-1-3 record.
Scoppola scored at the 20:45 mark on a 16-yard shot that hit the right post and went in off the left post. The game-winning goal was set up off a throw-in from defender Oussie Gueye.
Lindenwood outshot Rockhurst 11-6. Aris Nukic had four shots to lead all players. Scoppola and Mark Magee led Rockhurst with two shots apiece. Rockhurst keeper Ryan Bass and Lindenwood keeper Fermin Hughes both posted three saves.
