"I appreciate Tyler stepping up to the plate for us," Geiser said. "We are in a tough situation on this, but he came highly recommended by Coach Muñoz. He is the interim coach and has the team for the fall. We will open the position afterwards, and what he does with this opportunity could give him an inside track. He has been given a wonderful opportunity by circumstance and time."
During Hart's stints as a graduate assistant (2013) and student assistant ('10), Eastern posted a 17-13-6 record, which included key wins against West Texas A&M, Northeastern State, Lubbock Christian and a tie with perennial NCAA Division II powerhouse Midwestern State. In those seasons, he was responsible for field maintenance, administration of practice plans, facilitated meetings and acted as a mentor for the student athletes.
Hart played in 60 games as a midfielder for Eastern, from 2006-2009 and helped lead the Hounds to a 29-36-8 record. In 2009, the Greyhounds won a team-record 11 games. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing and a minor in economics, in 2011 and plans to complete his master's program in business administration.
Due to personal reasons, Muñoz announced his resignation as head coach. Muñoz guided the Greyhounds to a record of 53-40-16 in six seasons, with a Lone Star Conference championship in 2009.
