Roundup: Drury gets late win vs. William Jewell

No. 5 Northeastern State, Regis Canceled

DENVER -- Five minutes into the Northeastern State-Regis match on Friday night, the skies opened and rain started pouring down on the Wheat Ridge High School pitch. Due to severe lightening, the match was cancelled for the safety of both sides.

The match will not be rescheduled.

No. 9 Drury 1, William Jewell 0

LIBERTY, Mo. -- Brett Steere scored his team-leading third goal of the season with 2:33 left in the second overtime on a Jack Mathis assist to give No. 9 Drury a 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference-opening victory at William Jewell on Friday.

The Panthers improved to 3-0, 1-0 GLVC with William Jewell falling to 1-2, 0-1 GLVC.

Blake Andrews posted his second shutout victory of the season in goal for DU.

"Very good performance from the guys, Jewell was very well organized defensively and we put in a very mature performance," DU head coach Ryan Swan said. "I thought we thoroughly deserved the win."
