Marquette defender Axel Sjoberg scored three of the team’s four goals this past weekend in the Big Ten/Big East Challenge. Against Michigan, he scored both of the Golden Eagles’ goals to capture a 2-1 comeback win. Sjoberg then netted the game-winner in double-overtime against Michigan State for the 2-1 victory. The Golden Eagles are one of two Division I teams with a perfect 7-0-0 record.
Senior goalkeeper James Belshaw secured a pair of shutouts on the weekend and tallied a goal for the Blue Devils. Versus Georgia State, he helped the backline to the first shutout of the season in a 3-0 victory. He then had an impressive six saves and netted a penalty kick in a 2-0 victory against Clemson, the team’s first ACC home game.

James Madison’s Christian McLaughlin netted the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the Dukes’ 1-0 upset of top-ranked and defending national champion North Carolina. After another win against Hofstra, JMU now holds a home unbeaten streak of 15.
