Wake Forest Athletics
Junior Luca Gimenez went for his first-career hat trick on Friday as No. 16 Wake Forest shut out Virginia Tech 4-0. The hat trick was the 26th in school history and the first for Wake Forest since Andy Lubahn recorded one in October of 2010. Gimenez now has a team-leading four goals on the season, and also has two assists for the Demon Deacons.
Akron Athletics
Renaldo Brenes, a junior forward for No. 7 Akron, earned his first career hat trick to lead the Zips to a 4-0 ousting of Buffalo on Saturday. The hat trick was the program's first since Darren Mattocks' trio of goals at Buffalo last season. Prior to Saturday's matchup, Brenes only had one goal in his previous 32 career outings.
Cornell Athletics
A three-goal week helped to earn junior forward Daniel Haber top performer honors. On Tuesday, he netted two goals against Hartwick in a 4-1 victory. Against Pennsylvania on Saturday, Haber drained one goal and assisted in another as the No. 22 Big Red won 3-2. Cornell is now 9-0-0 on the season, the program's best start in history. Haber currently leads the nation in points per game, goals per game and total goals.
