Nebraska 2,Kansas 1 (OT)



The Nebraska Cornhuskers used an overtime goal by Nikki Baker to defeat the Kansas Jayhawks, 2-1, in the second round of the 2004 Division I Women's Soccer Championship at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex in Lawrence, Kan.

Nebraska got on the board first as Brooke Bredenberg scored on a free kick from 20-yards out at the 27:03 mark.

The Huskers went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Jayhawks found the back of the net in the 68th minute as Jessica Smith scored off an assist from Rachel Gilfillan and tied the game at 1-1. Kansas outshot Nebraska 17-1 in the second half but the two teams ended regulation tied a 1-1.

At the 94:19 mark, Nebraska's Nikki Baker ripped a shot from 30-yards out that hit just inside the crossbar and bounced in.

Nebraska goalkeeper Katie Wright finished the game with nine saves as the Jayhawks outshot the Huskers 27-8 in the game.

Kansas finishes its season at 18-5 while Nebraska will move on to the Sweet 16 with a 14-8 record.
