Wheaton , Ill. - The Wheaton College (Ill.) women's soccer team defeated the University of Chicago 3-0 in the Third Round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament on Friday night at Wheaton's East McCully Field. Christopher Newport defeated Lynchburg by a score of 1-0 in the other match. Tonight's win was the second win this season by the Thunder over the University of Chicago, as Wheaton was a 1-0 winner over Chicago on Sept. 23rd. Christopher Newport got its first victory against the Hornets, following a 1-1 tie on Oct. 3rd. The teams will play Saturday at 5pm at East McCully Field.

The win improves Wheaton to 22-1 and extends Wheaton's school-record winning streak to 22 matches. Christopher Newport improved to 16-3-3 on the season. Wheaton defeated the Captains 6-1 on Sept. 10th at the DIII-Esprit Tournament in Cary, N.C.

In the first match, the Thunder capped a frenetic first half with three goals in sevenminutes. Wheaton junior Jennifer Binger scored her 22nd goal of the season in the 32nd minute. Binger's 22 goals are tied for the second most in a season with Rebecca Mouw (1999), who also holds the single season school record of 25 (2000).

Freshman Sarah Richardson scored her 12th goal of the season off of a corner kick in the 36th minute. Richardson added a second goal in the 39th minute of a Laura Koontz assist. Junior goalkeeper Andrea Pryzbysz was injured on the play and the game was delayed for 30 minutes.

Senior goalkeeper Ann Zimo shutout the Thunder the rest of the way. Senior Brita Nelson and junior Ashley Vratil combined for the shutout.
