Messiah 3, Dickinson 1

First-year Sarah Casey scored off an assist from junior Jess Griggs to give Dickinson College a 1-0 lead over top-ranked Messiah College at halftime. The Falcons answered with three second-half goals to remain unbeaten on the year at 20-0, and advance to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

Griggs chipped the ball into the box where Casey pushed the ball past Messiah goalkeeper Cassie Grose at the 26:33 mark.

Messiah tied the game and then took the lead in a span of just 75 seconds as Avie Fitzgerald converted an assist from Jessica Steadman at 56:16, followed by the game-winning tally by Hannah Levesque from Billie Jo Atkins off a corner at the 57:31 mark. Levesque struck again with an insurance goal in the 67th minute, unassisted, during scramble after another Messiah corner.

Dickinson maintained its composure and continued to battle throughout the remainder of the match, but could not answer as they finish the season 16-4-3 overall. Alanna Schechtman turned in a solid performance in goal for Dickinson, stopping 10 shots on the day.

Messiah held a 23-7 advantage in shots and held a 13-1 edge in corners for the match. Grosse finished with three saves.

Messiah advances to face Trinity University at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon at Dickinson College.
