Rochester Cruises Past Westfield State In NCAA First Round With 4-0 Win

Rochester scored three first half goals and went on to a 4-0 victory over Westfield State in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
Ellen Colem scored two goals. Brittany Huber and Jessica Smith had one goal apiece.Eileen Boylan assisted on the Smith goal and Bridget Kehm set up Coleman's second goal.
Rochester improved to 13-3-3. Westfield State finished at 16-2-2. It was the first loss for the Owls since opening day.
Coleman scored at 2:02. Huber made it 2-0 at 29:12. Smith scored at 40:33, and Coleman completed the scoring at 60:24.
Celeste Hornbach made four saves in 77:45 for the Yellowjackets. Bridget Lang had one save in the last 12:15. For Westfield State, Jessica Pieciak had three saves.
Rowan University will host MIT in the second game of the doubleheader Saturday night. Winners from Saturday return at 6 pm Sunday to determine which team advances to the Sweet 16.
