Williamstown, MA... Junior Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) scored the game's only goal as The College of New Jersey women's soccer team slipped past Ithaca College 1-0 on Sunday to advance to the semifinals of the 2009 NCAA Division III Tournament.

The win extends the team's season into December where the Lions will be making their fifth appearance in the national semifinals in the last seven years, while advancing to the finals on two of those occasions. TCNJ will face either top-ranked Messiah College (23-0-1) or seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins University at the Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio, TX on Friday, December 4 at a time to be determined.

TCNJ is now 20-2-1 on the season marking the second time in the last three seasons they have hit the 20-win plateau.

McDonough, who played on both the 2006 and 2007 teams that advanced this far, scored her eighth goal of the season with 19:13 remaining on an assist from as freshman Allyson Anderson (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant). It was also McDonough's team-leading fifth game winner of the season.

Anderson has had a huge tournament for the Lions through the first four games picking up a goal or an assist in each game totaling two goals and two assists.

TCNJ's defense also did its part against Ithaca as the Lions recorded its fourth shutout of the tournament in as many games and extended their shutout streak to eight straight.

Senior keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) notched her 16th shutout of the season as she finished with five saves. Clarke has not allowed a goal in her last 702:33 minutes.

The 15th-ranked Bombers finished their campaign with a record of 16-5-1.
