Andrea Carpenter scored two goals and Ashley Holton added a goal and an assist Friday afternoon as the ACU Wildcats captured the first NCAA post-season tournament victory in program history with a 5-0 blowout win over Angelo State in the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament at St. Edward's.

The Wildcats (17-3) advance to St. Edward's at 1 p.m. in the sub-regional championship match. The winner of Sunday's match will advance to next week's Super Regional at a site to be determined.

ACU had 16 shots (eight on goal) in the match compared to just three total shots (two on goal) for the Rambelles, who lost for the third time this season to ACU.

"We played really well today," ACU head coach Casey Wilson said. "We came out strong and continued our strong play from last weekend. We created a lot of opportunities, and fortunately we were able to cash in on them, especially in the second half."

The Wildcats scored the only goal they would need in the first half as Holton scored her 14th goal of the season at the 17:01 mark, putting a loose ball off a corner kick by Ashley Simon past ASU goalkeeper Melanie Peterson.

Julie Coppedge scored her fifth goal of the season at the 50:44 mark of the second half when she took a pass from Whitley Lindholm and put it past Peterson from 25 yards out to make it 2-0. Carpenter scored for the first time in the match and the 20th time on the season at the 53:28 mark when she took a corner kick from Holton and headed it past Peterson to make it 3-0.

Carpenter scored again at 63:47 when Roxy Marsh hit her with a crossing pass and she drove it past Peterson into the net for her 21st goal of the season to make it 4-0. Carpenter is now ACU's all-time leading scorer and holds the single-season record for goals scored.

The Wildcats finished it off in the 89th minute when Krysta Grimm scored her third goal after getting a pass from Ashley Craig.
