BOSTON -- For the fifth consecutive season, Boston University is the America East women's soccer champion. The top-seeded Terriers scored a pair of first-half goals just six minutes apart and held off third-seeded Albany to post a 2-0 victory in the conference championship game at Nickerson Field on Saturday.

The 13th-ranked Terriers will be making their seventh consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and will learn their draw on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Senior defender Angelina Cords, who helped the Terrier back line hold the Great Danes to just four shots, earned the tournament's Most Outstanding Player honors.

Boston U. (18-2-1) got on the board in 15th minute when senior Jessica Luscinski blasted home a shot from 20 yards out. The America East Striker of the Year, who missed the Terriers' semifinal contest with pneumonia, took a feed from classmate Tiya Gallegos, a second-team all-league selection, shifted the ball to her right foot and crushed a shot off the inside of the left post and in to make it 1-0 Terriers.

Sophomore Madison Clemens would push the Terrier lead to 2-0 just six minutes later. Sophomore Emma Clark sent the ball to the left corner where freshman Taylor Krebs, the America East Rookie of the Year, corralled it. Krebs dribbled in towards the goals and sent a cross through the box where Clemens retrieved it and found the back of the net from eight yards out.

Albany (9-10-1), which was making its first-ever America East Championship game appearance, had a few chances in the second half. Junior Casey Marks put the Great Danes' first shot on net in the 64th minute, but the Terriers' Alice Binns was there to make the save. Senior Chelsey DeVerna, a second-team all-league forward, had another good chance in the 75th minute, but Binns was there again.

But, the Terriers, who outshot the Great Danes 26-4, held off the Great Danes for their ninth America East title and will ride a 12-game win streak into the NCAA tournament. Albany, which got nine saves from goalkeeper Jackie Ubert, had its eight game unbeaten streak snapped and ends its season 9-10-1.
