ONEONTA, N.Y. -- SUNY Oneonta opened its 2012 home schedule in grand style by shutting out No. 14 Williams. The win for the Red Dragons was its first of the season as they stand at 1-1-1 overall while the Ephs open its season with the defeat.

Oneonta didn't take long to get on the scoreboard today as senior Kayla Brantmeyer scored her first goal of the season in the seventh minute. Brantmeyer chased down a ball on the far right flank and sent a ball across that looked harmless. As the ball approached the goal, it appeared that it had a chance to catch the inside of the left post as the Williams keeper let it go thinking it was headed out of bounds. The ball landed in the goal for the 1-0 lead.

The rest of the opening half was evenly played with Oneonta keeping its one-goal lead while taking a slim 5-4 advantage in shots into halftime.

Oneonta continued the pressure early in the second half and capitalized on another long ball sent in from the right flank to go up 2-0. Sophomore Elise Moinzadeh tracked down a ball that appeared to be headed out of bounds. After controlling the ball, she sent a long pass to the front of the goal that deflected around and ended up behind the goalie, which senior Lindsey Doxtader reached and pushed to the back of the net.

Freshman Rori Stark only had to make three saves in the game as she picked up her first collegiate win and shutout. Oneonta finished the game outshooting Williams 14-9 while holding a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
