DURHAM, N.C. -- Coming off two victories in the Duke Nike Classic, the Blue Devils moved up two spots to No. 2 in the latest NSCAA rankings. With Duke moving to No. 2, Thursday’s ACC contest at No. 1 Florida State will feature the top two ranked teams.

Check out the full rankings.

The Blue Devils currently have a 6-1 record and feature an NCAA-best 4.14 goals per game average heading into ACC play.  Duke has scored 29 goals in seven matches, which is two more than any other team in the nation.

With the Blue Devils missing their top two scorers from a year ago – Mollie Pathman and Kelly Cobb – Duke has used a team effort to score two or more goals in all seven matches.  Eigth players have registered goals, led by Laura Weinberg (7), Kim DeCesare (6) and Gilda Doria (5).  Both DeCesare and Doria had combined for eight total goals over the last two years, but they have notched 11 in seven matches in 2012.

Cobb and Pathman returned to Durham on Monday, after leading the U.S. U-20 squad to the World Cup title with a 1-0 victory against Germany on Saturday.  The duo combined for 17 goals and 20 assists a year ago for the Blue Devils.
