LIBERTY, Mo. -- William Jewell faced one of its toughest challenges of the season Sunday as they welcomed Quincy to Greene Stadium. Kenzie Kellog, Jade Gifford and the rest of the Cardinals answered the challenge with a 2-1 upset win, to hand Quincy its second loss of the season.

The Cardinals came out strong early on and battled, showing no signs of intimidation. William Jewell outshot Quincy 7-3 in the first half and both teams went scoreless in the first half.

William Jewell came out strong in the second half and had several good scoring chances, but they were not able to solve the tough Quincy defense early on in the second half.

In the 78th minute, Gifford put one past the Quincy goalkeeper to put the Cards on the board after a foul on the Lady Hawks. Six minutes later, Kate Beaver found Kellog in the box who put it home to give the Cardinals a commanding 2-0 lead.

Quincy would not go away however, as Brittany Casey scored at the 85:59 mark to put Quincy down by one at 2-1.

Jewell would hang on for the win to garner its sixth consecutive win.
