GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Senior Alex Brandt broke up a deadlocked tie in double overtime to lift Messiah past Arcadia in the 106th minute. The win marks the 15th of the season and eighth in the conference for the Falcons.

Messiah had a 17-5 shot advantage in the match.

The game started off in a dead heat with both teams matching each other shot for shot. The teams continued this way until about the 25th minute. The Falcons then started to put pressure on the Knights, forcing keeper Veronica Willig to make three saves in five minutes.

Freshman keeper Audra Larson made one save in the first half off of a shot on goal by sophomore Nina Barbieri.

The second half started similar to the first as the teams battled for possession. The Falcons got their best chance in regulation in the 71st minute when freshman Holly Burgard took a shot that rang off of the post. The shots kept coming for the Falcons through the rest of the second half, but none found the back of the net.

The two teams headed into overtime in a scoreless tie.

The theme of the game continued into the first overtime period. Messiah was able to get shots on goal, but Willig continued her strong defensive effort. She saved the first 10 shots en route for the goal.

The second overtime was once again very competitive until it ended in the 106th minute. Alex Brandt was one on one with the keeper as she made a move to get around Willig and promptly put the ball into the net.

The game-winning goal brings Brandt's total for the season to four, with 12 goals overall. Total shots on goal for the Falcons came to 11, while the Knights had four.
