Hoo nets two unassisted goals, West Virginia Wesleyan takes first round
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Kristen Hoo scored two goals late in the second half to lead sixth-seeeded West Virginia Wesleyan to a 2-0 victory against third-seeded Gannon in the opening round of the NCAA tournament on Friday.
Hoo's first goal came in the 72nd minute on a mishandled ball by the Golden Knights' keeper. She then won a foot race to the ball against the goalkeeper in the final minute and drilled the ball to the back of the net to seal the 2-0 victory. Both goals were unassisted.
Both teams registered 10 shots each in the game, with Gannon holding a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. Lauren Duncan recorded six saves and her sixth shutout of the season for the Bobcats.
West Virginia Wesleyan improved to 12-5-3 on the season with victory and advances to play second-seeded West Chester on Sunday. Gannon finished its season with a 13-4-2 record.
