MANKATO, Minn. --  Senior Brianne West scored the match’s only goal to propel Minnesota State-Mankato to a 1-0 victory against Central Oklahoma. The win sends the Mavericks to the Central Region Championship on Friday against Central Missouri.

The Mavericks started the match outshooting the Bronchos 9-1 in the first half. They earned five corner kicks and numerous scoring chances but were unable to capitalize.

The contest remained scoreless until the 81st minute when West blasted a shot into the right side past diving Central Oklahoma netminder Meagan Burke for her seventh goal of the year. Junior Tori Meinhardt and senior Brittany Henry assisted on the goal.

Burke finished with eight saves for the Bronchos, while sophomore goalkeeper Molly McGough stopped all four shots on goal she faced for the Mavericks. MSU outshot Central Oklahoma 18-6 in the match.
