KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The defending national champion West Florida women’s soccer team was ranked No. 1 in the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America preseason poll released Tuesday.

The Argonauts finished the 2012 season 24-1 and on a 13-match winning streak en route to its first national championship. West Florida was the only Gulf South Conference school ranked in the preseason poll.

Three teams on the Argos’ regular-season schedule were ranked in the Top 25 in the preseason rankings, including No. 13 Columbus State and No. 5 Armstrong Atlantic. West Florida will play Columbus State and Armstrong Atlantic in its first two matches at the Holiday Inn Express Midtown Savannah “Clash on the Coast” hosted by Armstrong on Sept. 6 and 8.

In its third match of the season, the Argos will hit the road to face No. 15 Rollins on Sept. 13.
