ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Fifth-ranked Ithaca (13-1-0, 5-0-0 E8) defeated Oneonta State (7-4-3) on Tuesday afternoon, dropping the Red Dragons by a score of 1-0 at Red Dragon Field. Senior Meredith Jones scored the lone Bomber goal, while sophomore goalkeeper Beth Coppolecchia made a career-high nine saves to earn her seventh solo shutout of the season.
Jones scored the only goal of the contest in the 54th minute, sneaking a shot past the Oneonta goalkeeper on a two-on-one break. Jones' goal marked her first of the season, snapping a 22-game goal drought dating back to a 3-0 win against Farmingdale on Oct. 13, 2012. Fellow senior Ellyn Grant-Keane started the play with a breakout pass, earning an assist on the game-winning goal. Grant-Keane's helper marked the 29th assist of her career, tying Julie Winn for the most assists in Bomber history.
Ithaca's defense was stifling for the reminder of the contest, giving the Bombers their third consecutive 1-0 victory.
