Puget Sound wins in 2OT

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Ninety minutes and one overtime was not enough decide a winner, but 1:07 into the second overtime Puget Sound broke the scoreless tie as Jill Shimabuku found the back of the net and the Loggers defeat Cal Lutheran 1-0 to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.

Shimabuku's goal, her first of the season, was assisted by Jordan McLuen.

Casey Thayer and Lauren Thomas split time in goal for the loggers, each recording two saves. Kristin Bailey made six saves against seven shots on goal for Cal Lutheran.

Puget Sound will meet Hardin Simmons on Sunday evening in the second round.
