No. 12 Pepperdine hangs on in OT after allowing 90th-minute equalizer

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Arin Gilliland scored with 28 seconds left on the clock in regulation to tie the match at two apeiece with No. 12 Pepperdine and force overtime, but the Waves scored two minutes into the extra frame and grabbed the win at No. 24 Kentucky on Sunday at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex.

Gilliland went one-on-one with the Pepperdine outside back for a long battle and then was able to cut back inside and put in a beautiful finish between the keeper’s right and far post to tie the match with 28 seconds left in regulation. The goal for Gilliland was her fourth of the season, as she now leads the Wildcats with 18 points on the season.

Pepperdine’s MAC Hermann Award Finalist, Lynn Williams scored the game-winning goal on the counterattack in the 92nd minute as Meagan Harbison tabbed the assist, and the Wildcats fell 3-2 in overtime.
